The format for conferences on February 9 & 13 is to identify students who are not performing well academically here at South. We have asked teachers to identify students in their class who have exhibited these concerns:
1. Not engaged in the learning process
2. Receiveing 1's in their class
3. Not working to potential
4. Behavioral concerns
5. Decline of 20 or more points between Fall and Winter MAP Reading and Math scores.
Our overall goal is to work with parents and students to make sure they are aware of how their students are performing. Additionally, it is imperative for parents and teachers to get on the same page and refocus efforts on how we all can make the academic process work well for students who attend South Junior High. We will schedule students by last name beginning with A-L on the 9th and M-Z on the 13th. You will receive a follow-up phone call from your students Home Base teacher to make sure you received a letter and to schedule you for a time to meet. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at 320-202-6848.
Sincerely yours,
Dr George Nolan, Principal

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Please be reminded that the South Junior High entry doors are NOT open until 7:30 a.m. There is no supervision prior to that time.
Staff members are not allowed to let students enter the building when they report for work until the doors physically open at 7:30 a.m.
** Please have your student(s) dresses appropriately for cold weather. Especially if they must wait a few minutes for doors to open when you drop them off. Also note, bus drivers have the right to refuse ridership to students not appropriately dressed for the weather. They can not be responsible if the bus breaks down and riders are not dressed warm enough.
When students report for school, they are required to report immediately to the cafeteria/gym area where supervision is provided. Teachers are not available to students prior to 8:15, except with prior written permission.
The computer lab is available to students at 7:50 a.m. with prior permission in an agenda or a teacher note. No note/no lab.

Night of the Stars.
The show dates are February 24th and 25th. We are thinking about adding a matinee on Saturday afternoon. This is an easy fundraiser. All of the ticket vouchers your students sell -- your organization gets 100% of the money. So if your students sell $500 worth of tickets to the shows, your organization gets the entire $500. Even if you have just a few or even no students from your school in the show, their parents and friends might want to buy tickets to see a great show. We will get info out as soon as we are ready to sell, but start thinking about it and talking it up to your students right away. By the way, auditions are set for January 9th and 10th. More on that as we finalize plans.
